Acme Wire Products Makes 2014 Sports Equipment Donation to Local Youth League
Acme Wire Products Co., Inc., a Mystic, CT manufacturer of custom wire fabrications, has donated 32 Cascade lacrosse helmets to Stonington Seals Lacrosse League. Paul Kezer, Director of the Stonington Seals, accepted the donation for the group. Kezer indicated that there are currently over 200 youth players in the program and the upfront cost of acquiring the equipment to play can become an obstacle for a new player.
"This donation allows us to have equipment on hand to loan out to new players and to returning players who may not be able to afford a helmet. It will be a tremendous help to the league," said Kezer.
Traditionally, the helmets are oneof the most costly items required for the sport and are necessary protective gear. The donation was made in mid-March and just a few days later, members of the Seals Lacrosse team took to the field "sporting" their new gear.
Over the past 16 years, Acme Wire Products has donated helmets to teams in Stonington, Ledyard, Groton (Fitch), Westerly, Montville, Norwich (Norwich Technical High), and to Saint Bernard School. The company manufactures wire face masks that are used as the face protection on the helmet. Over the past 20 years, Acme Wire Products has manufactured over 1,500,000 face masks.
In addition to the protective wire face masks, Acme Wire Products also manufactures items such as specialty baskets, handles, frames, guards and wire forms. The components are used in a variety of industries including telecommunications, HVAC, medical accessories, food processing, storage and material handling and processing.
