Acme Wire Products’ Activities During Manufacturing Month - October 2012

Mary Planeta Fitzgerald, president of Acme Wire Products Co. Inc., is developing a manufacturing trivia game to unveil this month at the Career Fair at Oakdale, CT’s Montville High School as well as the Manufacturing Open House at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT.

Acme Wire Products’ participation in the events is part of our participation in Connecticut Manufacturing Month. We will award promotional items as prizes to students who correctly answer questions concerning manufacturing processes and Acme Wire Products.

The trivia game and our appearance at these events are about more than just entertaining attendees, Fitzgerald said.

“We want students to understand that manufacturing and technology present a variety of satisfying, fulfilling career opportunities,” she said. “We also want to highlight the skills and education required for a successful career in today’s manufacturing environment.”

At the open house at Three Rivers, Acme Wire Products also will demonstrate hands-on applications of the subjects that the community college students are learning in the classroom and connect the students’ education to future employment possibilities.

“We plan to underscore the various technical career pathways available in manufacturing,” Fitzgerald said.

A highlight of our presentation at both events will be a display of the wire face masks that Acme Wire Products manufactures for lacrosse and football helmet customers, detailing the evolution of the wire face masks from a manufacturing and style perspective.

The wire face masks are particularly pertinent, given the major milestone that 2012 represents.

“Acme Wire Products has reached the achievement of manufacturing over 1.5 million lacrosse masks for one of our customers,” she said. “We look forward to a long future of manufacturing many more masks and other precision wire components in Connecticut.”
